The internet needs more people from this series, and every time I see another one pop up over at ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) dear_mun I get a little giddy. From Candace to Baljeet to Buford, from other Phineases (Phineai?) to Ferb and Vanessa, the myriad platypeople Perrys and Doofenshmirtzes, and any I may have missed. I love you all. The year is 2015. It is a brave new world out there. Thanks to the efforts of the government's Sentinel Project, Manhattan lies in tatters. Striking back, the Brotherhood has turned man's own weapons back upon him and successfully taken over Rykers Island, turning the former jail into a supposed mutant utopia, while Charles Xavier, through his New Mutants and X-Men, tries to help the world rebuild.
Meanwhile, an ocean away in Scotland, the Muir Island-based team of Excalibur copes with the unusual and paranormal, cooperating with the U.K.'s Weird Happenings Organization in order to solve the most pernicious of riddles.
XMR is a dystopian X-Men MUSH set in the near future. Two linked grids run concurrently, with the main Manhattan grid taking a science fiction focus and the smaller UK grid focusing more on the paranormal. With two fresh takes on the X-Men theme, XMR has something for everyone, from the biggest comic buff to the newest X-Men fan.

Possibly it's /not/ worth mentioning, but I was proud, so I'm mentioning it anyhow.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the MUSH
The lounge and the grid were pervaded with hush;
The fosterns and cliaths relaxed in good cheer,
With some of them aided by wine or by beer,
While upstairs the cubs nestled snug in their beds,
While visions of riting revolved in their heads.
The Fenrir were wassailing all round the town,
While the Bone Gnawers rattled tin cans up and down,
Begging for coins from the Fangs who passed by
And the Coggies all dressed in their shirts of tie-dye.
The Uktena and Wendigo looked on in scorn
As the Glass Walkers downloaded Santa Claus porn
(“Well, it said ho-ho-ho!”) – while the Furies and Striders
Wrote angry reports to their service providers.
Meantime, not a sign there of any Fianna;
They’d all been dead drunk since at least Rosh Hashanna.
The Shadow Lords worked to prepare Christmas dinner
(So why did the kitchen smell so of paint-thinner?);
The Stargazers wrapped up their presents with care,
Since when Christmas Day came, they planned not to be there –
But they couldn’t conceal their gifts under the tree,
For thanks to the Talons, it now smelt of pee.
Then out on the bawn there arose such a clatter
That all Sept officials cried “What is the matter?”
And off to the caern they all ran in a hurry,
Their faces distorted with panic and worry;
The doubt in their minds was becoming quite firm
That this terrible racket was made by the Wyrm.
But no! not the Wyrm, nor a minion of his –
For the noise it was made by the sainted HEAD WIZ.
“A right merry Christmas!” she bade the Garou,
As they panted and gasped with their fur all askew.
“I bring you all gifts, which I hope you’ll admire,
For being such wonderful warriors of Gaia.
A dot in your stats I shall give you for free,
And free rites and gifts to a total of three!”
The Garou were astounded, no words could they speak,
As the WIZARD delivered these gifts so unique.
Then she climbed on her carpet and rose in the air,
And on it she flew clean away, I declare.
But I heard her exclaim, ere she flew out of sight –
“Merry Christmas to all… are we mooting tonight?”

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Thank you so much, adarkfallenstar. Our RPs are awesome and are such a wild, roller-coaster of emotions. I'm so glad you put up with me and my constant bouts with inadequacy.

Educational theory on learning styles not supported by proper scientific testing.
...although numerous studies have purported to show the existence of different kinds of learners (such as "auditory learners" and "visual learners"), those studies have not used the type of randomized research designs that would make their findings credible.
Nearly all of the studies that purport to provide evidence for learning styles fail to satisfy key criteria for scientific validity....
Wonder how schools'll react to /that/...
On the other hand, a study which is apparently correctly done again shows water is wet, or in this specific case, (bad) TV may help perpetuate racial bias.

I can get to the refuge at HotW. If I can't figure out some way of conning the MUSH into thinking it's not me, so I can connect, then maybe I can run it there?
I got myself proxy masking software. Now connecting without problems. It really does seem to be my IP address specifically that it periodically takes exception to.

There are few things crackier than taking a young version of a famous starship engineer and throwing him into a freeform realm where mages and techies can co-exist, never mind the DRAGONS. Especially amidst so many incredible original characters. And yet, not only did you guys play off of my Cadet, you treated him as though he was a singular individual, who does not have to fulfill any stereotypes or act entirely like a joke.
So! In no particular order: To Seeker, Lucien, Tara, Sal, Jaycy, Renne, Icer, Vex, Sid, Kendall, Darcy, Ada, Wolvie, Aly, Pavel, Montgomery, Bly, Stiles, Dark, Yejix, Silas, Fia, Fio and probably a dozen others I'm forgetting, thank you. You guys have been so, so much fun.
And to my play partner haroldlee, playing with you has been one of the most eye-opening, mindblowing, insane, wonderful and incredible things in my entire RP career. <33333 Here is to the most unlikely relationship to ever evolve on a kink-meme, into LJ play, into freeform, into a whole new realm, and all the adventures from here.
